nail file packaging

After beginning the job search post-grad and not wanting to fall into stagnation, I started designing my own packaging for everyday beauty products.

Much like how I start off most of my own projects, I began by setting up the color palette. As my first portfolio project outside of school, I came to the realization that my design work fundamentally lacked colors. Even though I knew I was capable of using color in my work, I used it so sparingly that I could hardly call my work colorful. This project was my first real dip into the colorful world of what I knew I wanted my design work to be.

Using a generic packaging structure for a nail file set, I came up with patterns that I’d like to use in my own life, or at least something I wouldn’t feel embarrassed about leaving out in my apartment with company over.

While I still think these nail files are something I’d like to own, my style has changed since making this and my own use of colors, especially bright colors, has become a lot more purposeful.
