Route app

This partnered project was to gain an understanding of all the work and detail that goes into developing an app. With my partner, we decided to create an all-in-one travel app that included a calendar for events you booked, a social media section that advertised events near you, and a budgeting portion so you could keep track of how much you were spending on your trip. The idea came to us when we were thinking about something students like us would like to have. My project partner and I both enjoy traveling and had just come back from trips over the summer. We agreed that some of the best parts of traveling are getting to find hidden gems like restaurants or events that you couldn’t find on any tourist site. When we started thinking about the different audiences our app would have, we realized there should be a way for people to get the most out of their stay without worrying about staying within a budget.

While the first part of the process for this project was coming up with an app idea, the next part was to design a logo. This started out as sketches of icons and full logos before we narrowed it down to a logo we liked. The logo we decided on was one that looked like a neon sign, reminiscent of a hostel sign.

Once we’d decided on our logo and app icon, we could move on to designing the flow of the app and the different application pages within it.

The next step was to start designing all the pages in Adobe XD.
